Last week, Saddlers players Brandon Comley and Rico Richards visited the children of Old Park Primary School to get involved with their Joy of Moving session.
As part of Ferrero’s corporate social responsibility programme – Joy of moving – Walsall FC Foundation host a number of sessions designed to inspire children to enjoy moving through play and to develop life-long habits which we hope will see them grow into active adults.
The duo first got involved with a fun, active play session with Year 5, with both putting themselves to the test in a range of different activities.
Rico and Brandon faced off against each other to conclude the session in a beanbag throwing competition, in which Comley was crowned the champion!

The class then got the opportunity to ask the pair some thought-provoking and insightful questions during a Q&A session, in which the children learnt about the lives of professional footballers, and the steps they took to fulfil their dreams.
Comley, who is the Foundation’s Health ambassador for the 2025/26 season, spoke following the afternoon at Old Park. He said: “It was great get to involved in the community; it’s always a fun thing for us to do.
“Supporting the local schools is a real pleasure – getting the smiles on kid’s faces and seeing how excited they are when we come in. We get to be a part of them being healthy and fit and, with me being an ambassador for that, I really enjoy taking part in these activities.”

Health manager, Chris Springthorpe said: “It is always important to engage with as many children as possible through the Joy of Moving programme, allowing everyone to get involved and enjoy sport, no matter their ages and abilities.
“We’re really grateful to the players for attending, and being such positive role models for the pupils. It got competitive too but it was great to see Brandon and Rico encouraging the children and enjoying themselves!”
