On Monday 25th July we were happy to launch our new Holiday and Play project in partnership with Homeserve.
We have been working closely with our new principle partner Homeserve to create an initiative in which we can further support the local community throughout the school holidays.
The Holiday and Play project provides residents across Walsall with the opportunity to join us in the academic year school holidays to be active and engaged through sport. Promoting positive well being and gains on mental and physical health.
Through our new Holiday and Play scheme parents are presented with free places to our ever popular Soccer Schools in which children can participate in full days of football based games and activities.
It was a pleasure to welcome 6 & 8 year-old girls, Kimberley and Daniella, to the stadium who were keen to get involved with the activities.
The girls’ parents told us; “When the opportunity came about to enrol them into the Homeserve Holiday and Play session for 4 days of Free football tuition and fun it was something we could not miss!”
With the rising cost of living many parents may struggle to access key provisions during school holidays, this includes sufficient childcare. The programme aims to tackle this issue head on within a time of year where it is needed most.
“Given the state of the current climate this was a God send to my wife and I, as the sessions ran almost the same times as the school day meaning we didn’t have to take time off and/or pay out for childcare/playschemes.” Parents commented.
“Both Kimberley and Daniella were in absolute awe on the walk up and into Bescot stadium to meet the coaches, they were very nervous at first but at the same time it gave them such a Buzz to be able to train at the same facility the first team plays at!”
“The sessions were very well structured and run by some friendly experienced coaches who made sure that both girls were safe and fully enjoyed themselves at all times!”
“As a parent I can confidently say both Kimberley and Daniella think the Holiday and Play session provided by Walsall FC Foundation and Homeserve was the best Football session they have been to, they both ask weekly as to when they can go back to play at Bescot and in the hope to see all their new friends made!”
Thanks to Homeserve we will be able to offer our new Holiday and Play places to families across Walsall during future school holidays and look forward to welcoming more families to the stadium.
