Since 1989, Walsall FC Foundation has helped young people gain practical experience, qualifications and career opportunities through its apprenticeship programme. Former apprentices have moved into full-time roles with the Foundation and across the wider sports industry.
Our sports apprenticeships combine recognised qualifications and workplace skills with hands-on experience. Apprentices work alongside experienced staff on coaching, education, community engagement and health programmes across Walsall and the West Midlands.
The pathway suits young people interested in sports coaching, teaching, business, digital marketing and community sport.

Experience that opens doors
Apprentices support the Foundation’s health, education, engagement and sport programmes while learning on the job. Sports apprentices work towards current industry qualifications and FA Coaching Badges during their time with the Club. The experience can lead to full-time roles with Walsall FC Foundation or opportunities elsewhere in sport and education.

Apprenticeship success stories

I really enjoyed my time as an apprentice. I worked hard to gain experience and pass my qualifications. When a position became available, I was eager to apply and really pleased to begin full-time employment at Walsall FC. I’d encourage young people to consider apprenticeships if they enjoy practical learning and want to work in the sport industry.
