Chance

Through Kicks at Walsall FC Foundation, Chance gained confidence and discovered a love for football. Supported by coaches in a safe, encouraging environment, he improved his skills and joined a grassroots football team to continue his development.
“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but football kept me focused and now I’m enjoying learning again.”
Chance’s story highlights how Kicks builds confidence, skills, and a passion for sport.

Ismail

Ismail joined Kicks at 14, enjoying football while building confidence and friendships. In November 2024, he progressed into a volunteering role, helping coaches run sessions and supporting younger players.

“Volunteering has given me the chance to give something back. I enjoy supporting the younger players and helping them feel part of the sessions, just like I did when I first joined.”
Ismail’s journey shows how Kicks empowers young people to grow into community leaders.

Oppiahus & Tyrique

Oppiahus and Tyrique have attended Kicks for over two years, using football to build confidence and explore post-16 opportunities. With support from trusted coaches and access to taster sessions at the Walsall FC Post-16 Football Programme, both successfully progressed into education and football training.

“Kicks helped me believe I could do something after school. The coaches pushed me and helped me get onto the course.”
Their story shows how Kicks helps young people develop skills, confidence, and aspirations for the future.

Lucy

Lucy joined the Tuesday evening female football sessions as a volunteer in August 2023, seeking to develop her coaching skills and boost her confidence. With support from coaches, she has become an active part of the sessions, helping run activities and encouraging younger players in a safe, positive environment.

“Being part of PL Kicks has really helped me grow in confidence and enjoy coaching more.”
Lucy’s journey shows how Kicks welcomes volunteers, helping young people explore their ambitions and develop new skills in football and leadership.
